Boac, Marinduque, Philipppines — The Marinduque State University (MarSU) Learning Resource Center has organized declamation, storytelling, intercollegiate quiz competition, book face, book spine, LRC reels video and logo making contest in celebration of National Book Week and Library & Information Services Month this November.

According to the official announcement from MarSU LRC, the declamation contest is going to take place by November 5 at the student lounge, the prizes at stake is 1,000, 700 and 500 for the podium finish. The criteria is as follows: master (memorization, timing and fluency), voice and diction (clarity, tone, pronunciation, projection), interpretation (understanding, emotion, facial expression), stage presence and confidence and overall impact.

Meanwhile, the storytelling contest is going to happen by November 6 at the LRC student lounge with prizes ranging from 1,000, 700 and 500 for the top 3 winners. The following criteria would be rated by the invited judges: delivery (voice, clarity, expression), story content and relevance, creativity and use of props/ costumes and stage presence and confidence.

In addition, Dalubhaasan intercollegiate quiz competition is open to all colleges in MarSU, each college would be represented by three participants forming a team. The duly registered participants must be submitted to MarSU learning center including questions from engineering, business, technology, agriculture, fisheries, math, science, governance, film, literature, pop culture, history, politics, general knowledge and current events. Dalubhasaan would have three rounds: easy, average and difficult with 15 multiple choice questions. The contest shall follow a point system.

On November 7, the book face contest would close for submission of entries. The following criteria would be followed: creativity and originality, relevance to the book and concept execution, photography quality (lighting, composition, clarity) andsocial media impact (reactions/ shares.

Likewise, the Book spine poetry contest would also close on November 7. The following criteria for book spine poetry is as follows: creativity and originality (uniqueness and inventiveness of the poem), theme and message (depth, clarity and emotional impact), aesthetic presentation (visual appeal and arrangement of the books) and social media impact (likes, shares and engagement.)

The LRC reels would take in entries until November 7, the following criteria would be followed: creativity and originality, relevance to the theme, storytelling and message, technical quality and social media engagement. And finally, sharing the same deadline on or before November 7, the logo making contest would follow the set of criteria: creativity and originality, aesthetic appeal, simplicity and memorability, technical quality and social media impact.

The theme for the 35thLibrary and Information Services month is LACE UP: Library – a hub for cultural exploration and unity through partnership. Meanwhile, the 91stnational book week celebration has the theme, “tulay ang pagbasa sa bukas na puno ng pag-asa.”
