Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — Marinduque State University (MarSU) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Marinduque together with the Liga ng mga Barangay -Torrijos & Buenavista, have officially launched a collaborative training program aimed at enhancing the capabilities of barangay officials in Torrijos and Buenavista. The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) took place at the Office of the President, Conference Room, Boac Campus on April 4, 2025.

The ceremony was graced by MarSU President Prof. Diosdao P. Zulueta, Dr. Ma. Edelwina M. Blasé (Vice President for Research and Extension), Dr. Anne Grace M. Labatete (Dean of the College of Governance), Mr. Wilmer L. Imperio (Campus Director of Sta. Cruz Campus), and Dr. Joy R. Profugo.

Comprising the partner signatories were Hon. German F. Yap (Provincial Director, DILG) represented by Ms. Rizalie Z. Semilla, with Hon. Carlos F. De Peralta (President, Liga ng mga Barangay – Torrijos) and Hon. Jonabeth Vitto (President, Liga ng mga Barangay – Buenavista).

The collaboration between MarSU and DILG with strong support from the Liga ng mga Barangay – Torrijos & Buenavista highlights the importance of capacity-building for grassroots leaders. Through this training initiative, barangay officials in Torrijos and Buenavista will be better equipped with the knowledge and skills to effectively serve their communities.
