Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — Marinduque State University (MarSU) continues to champion excellence in extension and community engagement through its recently concluded “Stakeholders’ Extension Forum and Impact Assessment Training for Extension Projects” through the initiative of the Extension Unit. Held from May 26–30, 2025 at Rojas Events Place in Santol, Boac, Marinduque, the event brought together a dynamic group of project leaders, extensionists, and representatives from key partner agencies.
The activity opened with a forum dedicated to engaging stakeholders and aligning extension initiatives with community needs. The following days were devoted to an intensive training on impact assessment, led by two esteemed experts in the field—Dr. Marilyn M. Elauria, Retired Professor 12 and Dr. Jessie C. Elauria, Retired Professor 12 and UP Scientist I.
Participants deepened their understanding of vital concepts through a series of comprehensive topics, such as:
- Impact Assessment Framework
- Mapping Inputs to Benefits and Adoption Pathways
- Sociological and Environmental Approaches in Impact Measurement
- Data Collection Techniques
- Cost and Return Analysis / Partial Budgeting
- Benefit-Cost Approach to Impact Assessment
Each session featured hands-on activities, allowing participants to apply their learnings to their respective extension projects. The program culminated in the presentation of completed Impact Assessment Project Proposals, showcasing the participants’ enhanced skills in research and evaluation.
Among the remarkable presentations were:
- SAS Journalismo Training Project: An Impact Assessment (College of Arts and Social Sciences)
- Impact Assessment on the Training and Production and Usage of a Foot-Operated Hand Sanitizer Dispenser and Handwashing Station (College of Engineering and College of Information and Computing Sciences)
- Brigada-Pagbasa: Teachers Undertaking Reinforcement of Learning (College of Education)
- Kaalaman at Katarungan sa Kabarangayan (KKK): A Refresher Training Program for Lupong Tagapamayapa Chairpersons and Members (College of Criminal Justice Education in collaboration with the College of Governance)
- Impact Assessment on Technology Adoption on Quality of Bagoong and Patis Production (College of Fisheries)
Two proposals were awarded Best Impact Assessment Project:

🏆 KKK: A Refresher Training Program for Lupong Tagapamayapa Chairpersons and Members
Additionally, the Best Presenter Award was given to Dr. Keam Eric L. Malabayabas of the College of Criminal Justice Education for his outstanding delivery and insightful analysis of the KKK project.
As the training came to a close, MarSU President Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta extended his heartfelt gratitude to the participants, organizers, and speakers. He encouraged everyone to integrate the skills and insights gained into their future extension efforts—underscoring the university’s commitment to meaningful impact and inclusive development.
Through this initiative, MarSU reaffirms its role as a catalyst for transformative community partnerships grounded in research, service, and sustainability.
