Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — On September 12, 2025, Marinduque State University marked a historic milestone with the groundbreaking ceremony of the MarSU Statue at the Main Campus. The event brought together university officials, faculty, students, and local leaders in a celebration of unity, identity, and shared dreams.

Local leaders, including Boac Mayor Armi Carrion, Vice Governor Romulo Bacorro Jr., and representatives of Governor Mel Go and Congressman Reynaldo Salvacion, expressed full support for the project, calling it a symbol of hope, progress, and educational empowerment.

Fr. Ian Retardo led the blessing of the site, while President Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta delivered a heartfelt message of gratitude, thanking the municipal and provincial leaders of Marinduque, as well as the entire MarSU community—faculty, staff, students, and partners—for their unwavering support of the university’s mission and development.

He also recognized the talented student-artists behind the MarSU Icon design:

From the College of Education – Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education: Jimleo L. Landoy for the 3D model of the university icon.

The ceremony also featured the signing of a deed of donation for the turnover of a three-wheeled motor vehicle from the Municipality of Boac. Once completed, the MarSU Statue will serve as a beacon of inspiration and a powerful reminder of the transformative power of education for all Marinduqueños.
