Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — Marinduque State University (MarSU) continues to make strides in its internationalization efforts as it proudly co-hosted the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Environment, Development, and Energy (CONSER 2025) held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. With the theme “Bridging Science and Technology for a Sustainable Earth,” the event brought together researchers, scientists, and educators from across Southeast Asia to advance conversations on sustainability and innovation.

Leading MarSU’s participation, University President Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta served as one of the keynote speakers, delivering a compelling presentation titled “Harnessing Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Island Living: Basis for Policy and Action Plan.” His talk explored the transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in promoting sustainable development, especially in small island communities.
Dr. Zulueta highlighted how AI-driven solutions can shape policies and action plans for sustainability, citing MarSU’s pioneering role as a catalyst for smart, sustainable island ecosystems. He also underscored the importance of aligning innovation with policy development, reflecting the university’s strong commitment to research, innovation, and global collaboration.

“MarSU’s presence in this international forum and its role as co-host affirm our commitment to bridging local knowledge with global perspectives. Through research and partnerships, we aim to contribute meaningfully to sustainable and inclusive development,” Dr. Zulueta shared during his address.
Beyond the keynote, MarSU faculty members also presented their research papers during the conference, showcasing studies on environmental sustainability, engineering, and social development. Their participation highlighted MarSU’s growing culture of research excellence and its active engagement in global academic discourse—further strengthening the university’s international research visibility and collaborations.
Other keynote speakers included Assoc. Prof. Ts. Gs. Dr. Mohd Nadzri Md Reba from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hita Pandita and Prof. Dr. Anton Satria P. from Universiti Teknologi Petronas, Malaysia.
The CONSER 2025 conference, co-organized by Marinduque State University and Institut Teknologi Nasional Yogyakarta, was attended by participants from Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The event served as a vibrant platform for international collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the promotion of sustainable environmental and technological development.
