Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — On November 23, 2025, the local members of the Marinduque State University Board of Regents (MarSU BOR), together with the top management officials, paid a courtesy call and consultation with CHED Commissioner and newly appointed Chair of the MarSU Board of Regents, Hon. Desiderio R. Apag III, at the MarSU Board Room.

Present during the activity were Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta (University President), Hon. Joy R. Profugo (Faculty Regent), Hon. Nolasco P. Revilla (Student Regent), Hon. Fr. Ian R. Retardo (Private Sector Representative), Atty. Crispin Francis M. Jandusay (Vice President for Administration and Finance), Mr. Marvin P. Plata (Vice President for Student Affairs Services), Mr. Harvey A. Dulay (Campus Director, Torrijos Campus), and Dr. Maria Morena V. Santos (Board Secretary V).

This engagement highlighted the pivotal role of the MarSU Board of Regents in steering the institution toward transformative growth through inclusive and participatory governance. Key matters were raised for clarification, including the processes and completed staff work related to projects and proposals such as the offering of new academic programs, manuals and policies, appointments and faculty promotions, procurement thresholds, project awards, MOAs/MOUs, foreign travel, and research and extension initiatives.

As the highest policy-making body of the university, Commissioner Apag emphasized the Board’s responsibility to foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and collaboration. He said that decisions must always be guided by sound principles and relevant laws and regulations, ensuring benefits for all stakeholders including faculty, personnel, students, alumni, and community partners.
