Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — The final day of the Prior Art Search and Patent Drafting Training-Workshop which was organized by Marinduque State University-Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension and Training (OVPRET) and the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office (KTTO) under the RAISE Program Phase II wrapped up with a productive series of lectures, hands-on activities, and collaborative exercises designed to strengthen participants’ skills in intellectual property documentation on December 12, 2025.

The morning session opened with a quick recap of Day 1, followed by the lecture about Components of a Patent Application led by Engr. Bryan B. Jaranilla, Research Coordinator of the College of Engineering. Participants then moved into a step-by-step demonstration on drafting patent claims and descriptions, along with a hands-on exercise where they developed basic claims and descriptions for their assigned case studies. A peer review session allowed attendees to refine their drafts through constructive feedback.

In the afternoon, participants engaged in a workshop on drafting a mini patent application, completed their search reports and final outputs, and presented their mini patent drafts and prior art search reports.
The program concluded with feedback from the resource speakers and facilitators, followed by the awarding of certificates and special recognition for outstanding participants, including the winners of “Best Patent Claims” and “Best Prior Art Search.”

Overall, this two-day activity stands as another successful milestone for MarSU, equipping participants with practical knowledge, strengthening research capabilities, and fostering a deeper commitment to innovation and intellectual property development.
