Manila, Philippines — The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) hosted the first-ever President’s Summit 2025, held on August 14-15, 2025, at the Century Park Hotel in Malate, Manila. The two-day summit brought together State Universities and Colleges (SUC) Presidents, Vice Presidents, and Quality Assurance experts nationwide.
The event featured plenary sessions, keynote addresses, and strategic dialogues. Key highlights from Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, AACCUP President and Chair, during the session titled “Aligning Institutional Strategies with National and International Benchmarks: Promoting Continuous Improvement and Global Competitiveness.” He emphasized the importance of harmonizing local quality assurance processes with globally recognized practices.
Followed by a keynote address from Hon. Shirley C. Agrupis, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), outlining the commission’s initiatives to address pressing challenges in the Philippine higher education sector. She urged SUCs to adjust their policies to conform to national and international education standards. Additionally, the summit also showcased insights from Hon. Jude A. Acidre, Chairperson of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education, who discussed emerging directions for quality assurance and accreditation in higher education.
Leading the university’s delegation was MarSU President, Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta, along with Assoc. Prof. Alfredo M. Ofrecio III, Chief of Staff, and Asst. Prof. Raoul J. Magcamit, Quality Assurance Director.
MarSU’s participation continues to strengthen its quality assurance systems to keep its programs and services responsive to the changing needs of higher education. As it promotes continuous improvement, academic excellence and global competitiveness in higher education institutions.
