Makati, Philippines — Marinduque State University (MarSU), along with other State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in the Philippines and SEANERGY Member Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), took an active role in the UTP-Philippines Industry Partners Roundtable, fostering cross-border collaborations in engineering, renewable energy, blockchain technology, and sustainability-driven innovation.
Held at Salcedo Village, Makati, the event—organized by Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) in partnership with the Embassy of Malaysia in Manila on February 12, 2025—brought together academia, industry, and government leaders to strengthen research, faculty exchange, and industry-academia partnerships.
Representing Marinduque State University, MarSU International Relations Director Jholey Rose R. Leaño-Lancion actively engaged in discussions on global academic collaboration and research excellence. University President, Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta, has been a strong advocate for MarSU’s internationalization efforts, ensuring that faculty, researchers, and students gain valuable exposure to global best practices and innovative solutions. His leadership continues to drive MarSU toward becoming a key player in international academic and research networks.
Among the event’s key highlights were discussions on Blockchain in Halal Technology (HATTS) to enhance traceability and food security, and Breakthroughs in Renewable Energy (RIC) featuring AI-driven energy solutions, green hydrogen, and biofuels—topics highly relevant to advancing sustainable development.
As an outcome of the roundtable discussions, a potential partnership among Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), the Department of Science and Technology-MIMAROPA (DOST-MIMAROPA), and Marinduque State University is being explored for a research collaboration on hydrothermal energy sources in Buenavista, Marinduque. This initiative aligns with the university’s commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions and contributing to scientific and technological innovations in the region.
The University extends its gratitude to CHED MIMAROPA, led by Regional Director Edna Imelda F. Legazpi, for this opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue with industry and academic leaders. MarSU remains steadfast in its mission to contribute to transformative education, research excellence, and sustainable development, aligning with national and global goals.
