Manila, Philippines — The 90th Regional Development Council (RDC) Full Council Meeting of MIMAROPA was successfully held on June 11, 2025, at The Heritage Hotel Manila, marking another milestone in the region’s ongoing efforts to enhance cooperation and development. The event brought together key decision-makers and stakeholders, including representatives from national agencies, local government units, and the academe, fostering collaboration and strategic discussions for the region’s progress.
Among the notable attendees from the academic sector were officials from Marinduque State University led by its University President, Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta, accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Alfredo M. Ofrecio III, Chief of Staff and Ms. Mila Grace Gutierrez, Planning Officer III.
Following the preliminaries, a recognition ceremony was held to honor the outgoing members of the 8th RDC MIMAROPA (2022–2025), during which plaques and certificates were awarded in appreciation of their contributions.
The agenda was packed with significant discussions and approvals on policies and programs shaping the socio-economic landsape of the region such as the State of the Region Address (SORA) delivered by RDC Chairperson and Romblon Governor Jose R. Riano; updates on the MIMAROPA Regional Development Investment Program (RDIP) 2023–2028; endorsements and approvals on strategic infrastructure and social development projects; and introduction of policy reforms and sectoral initiatives focusing on gender, economic planning, and maritime connectivity
Officials from various government agencies also presented progress reports and updates on regional economic conditions, program monitoring, and policy directions.
The RDC meeting serves as a platform for aligning regional priorities with national development goals. MarSU’s involvement in this significant gathering reinforces its vital role not only in providing quality education but also in shaping and supporting development agendas across the MIMAROPA region.
