Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — The Marinduque State University (MarSU) kicked off the Multi-Sectoral Community Sports and Wellness Capacity-Building & Coaching Education Training Program at the MarSU Gymnasium, which is scheduled from March 10-14, 2025.

The event, spearheaded by MarSU Boac Campus Director Assc. Prof. Julie Rodelas, seeks to strengthen the role of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) in fostering community engagement and advancing sports and wellness programs through collaboration.

Anchored in the values of Integrity, Discipline, Equality, Accountability, and Leadership (I.D.E.A.L.), the program also aims to build a professional, inclusive, and excellent sports community while promoting health and well being.

The opening program began with a Putong to welcome the guests, led by the Culture and Arts Unit. VPAF Atty. Crispin Francis Jandusay then delivered his brief welcome remarks, followed by an inspiring message from University President, Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta. After Assc. Prof. Rodelas set the direction for the event, MarSU Sports and Wellness Director, Dr. Gerald M. Pajanustan, acknowledged the participants.

The morning session introduced the visiting sports commissioners & trainers, followed by a comprehensive overview of the CHED Community Sports and Wellness Program by Coach Ana Dulce B. Yango. She also led a discussion on aligning CHED’s Community Sports and Wellness Program with the Provincial Community Sports and Wellness Council, emphasizing the importance of collaboration.

This collaborative endeavor is specially targeted at bringing together government agencies such as the Department of Education, Department of Tourism, DILG-LGUs, and Sangguniang Kabataan, aiming to equip them with the skills and knowledge to promote community sports and wellness initiatives across various sectors.
