Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — Following their recent success at PelikulAgraryo 2025, members of the Marinduque State University (MarSU) Communication Society (CommSoc), together with their faculty adviser Ms. Aubrey Jen T. Matibag and the entire College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) faculty, led by Dr. Ernesto L. Largado, Collge Dean, paid a courtesy visit to University President, Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta on July 1, 2025, at the Office of the President, Conference Room.
During the visit, the team presented the highlights of their achievement, winning 2nd Best Short Film in the Agrarian Reform Beneficiary (ARB) category at the regional student short film competition organized by DAR MIMAROPA, held on June 24, 2025, in Talisay, Batangas. Their entry, titled “Punla,” also received special awards for Best Sound and Best Supporting Actress, the latter awarded to Ms. Ashley D. Mangubat.
President Zulueta commended the students and their mentors for their outstanding performance and for bringing honor to the university. The courtesy visit served as an opportunity to highlight the power of creative storytelling in raising awareness on pressing social issues, particularly the lives and struggles of agrarian reform beneficiaries, as portrayed in their film based on the story of Mr. Federico P. Larracas.
