Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Provincial office has brought the Virtual Reality forum to Marinduque State University (MarSU) on June 27, 2025 at the MarSU Learning Resource Center, Boac, Marinduuqe, involving stakeholders and interest groups. Not too long ago, from the Regional Science and Technology, Innovation (RSTW) Week in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro last May 28-30, among the much-appreciated exhibits was the VR booth.
Various stakeholders from the Department of Education (DepED), Educational Systems Technology Inc (ESTI), Marinduque Midwest College (MMC), Landy National High School along with Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), MarSU departments from Engineering, Information Sciences, Arts and Social Sciences, Allied Health Sciences, Fisheries, Education and integrated school have attended the forum at the MarSU learning resources center. The Provincial Tourism and Cultural Office also attended the forum along with businessowners from Uncle Roy and Herbagen Creatives.
After the input from Red Root Cooperative,the resource persons have demonstrated virtual reality many potentials and applications to education, research and other areas. While having the open forum, everybody took turns in experiencing first hand what VR has to offer.
Representing MarSU Research, Extension and Training, Engr. Edgardo Laririt welcomed the participants. Then PSTC Marinduque opened the forum with the objectives. Sir Bernie Caringal acknowledged the potential of VR for heritage and the regional science centrum.
