Manila, Philippines — After the fruitful 1st quarter of 2025, MarSU once again received another recognition conferred by the Commission on Higher Education for the 1st EQUATE Award for Excellence in Quality Assurance in Teacher Education, a Recognition Program for High Performing Teacher Education Institutions, on April 2, 2025 at Manila Hotel, Rizal Park, Ermita, Manila.

After the opening ceremonies, Dr. Carlos Vargas-Tames (Head, International Teacher Task Force Secretariat, UNESCO Paris Headquarters) delivered the keynote lecture about the future of global teacher education and public policies on education.

Shortly after the break and photo opportunity, Prof. Edizon A. Fermin (Chair, Technical Panel for Teacher Education) presented the CHED Strategic Directions in Philippine Teacher Education.

In the afternoon session, the EQUATE Awards Conferment Ceremonies commenced with the opening message of CHED Chairperson Hon. J. Prospero E. De Vera III, DPA, emphasizing his commendation to the awardees who excelled among 1600 higher education institutions in the country. It was followed by the keynote message of Hon. Lucas P. Bersamin (Executive Secretary of the Philippines). Additionally, Hon. Mark O. Go (Baguio City District Representative & Chairperson, House Committee on Higher and Technical Education) and Hon. Alan Peter S. Cayetano (Senator & Chair, Senate Committee on Higher, Technical and Vocational Education).

After the messages from event dignitaries, Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta proudly received the award. Alongside PDPZ was Dr. Susan B. Pineda (Associate Dean, College of Education), who witnessed the momentous occasion for the College of Education and the entire MarSU academic community. The activity concluded with a closing message from Hon. Sherwin T. Gatchalian (Senator & Chair, Senate Committee on Basic Education).

This recognition bestowed upon Marinduque State University marks a pivotal chapter in its journey of academic and institutional excellence. It symbolizes not only the dedication and hard work of the entire MarSU community but also the shared commitment to fostering growth, innovation, and service.
