Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, Philippines —The Marinduque State College – College of Information and Computing Sciences (MSC-CICS) actively participated in the 2024 MIMAROPA Regional Science, Technology and Innovation Week (RSTW), from May 7 to 9, 2024, at the Calapan City Convention Center, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
This project was specifically developed to address the challenges faced by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). SIMS aims to empower MSMEs and encourage real innovation within Marinduque by providing a sustainable solution.
Aligned with the theme “Changing Lives Through Science,” the RSTW provided a platform for various institutions to showcase their contributions to scientific advancement. MSC-CICS, in collaboration with DOST-Marinduque, exhibited a digitalization project called the “Sales and Inventory Management System (SIMS)”.
The MSC delegation at the event was led by Dr. Ma. Edelwina M. Blase, Vice President for Research and Extension. Dr. Julieta Q. Nabos, Project Leader; Ms. Christine May L. Nabos, Project Coordinator; Ms. Doreena Joy C. Borja, Technology Transfer, and Promotional Team Leader; and Ms. Geraldine Nambio, Extension Office Staff, also represented MSC.
DOST-Marinduque was likewise present with Bernardo T. Caringal, Provincial Science and Technology Director, and Joseph P. Manaog, Science Research Specialist II.
The participation of MSC-CICS in the 2024 MIMAROPA RSTW highlights the college’s commitment to developing innovative solutions that directly benefit the Marinduque community and to seek new adaptors for the commercialization of the system to the MSMEs of other provinces in the region. The “Sales and Inventory Management System” is a prime example of how technology can empower MSMEs and contribute to the province’s economic growth.
The project team is ever grateful to the unrelenting support of Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta for sending them to the event and get to showcase the technology they have developed for the MSMEs in Marinduque.
