Gasan, Marinduque, Philippines— Faculty from MSC’s College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences (CFAS) in Gasan, Marinduque had just completed a five-day “Open Water Scuba Diving” training, spearheaded by Program Chair, Mr. Regie F. Mampusti, and Dean, Dr. Paloma D. De Chavez of the CFAS, together with two (2) faculty members, Mr. Wilfredo Q. Villavicencio Jr. and Mr. Aldrin F. Madurog, with Diving Instructor, Engr. Freedom Dellosa, Jr.
The training took place on April 8, 11, 12, 15 and 16, 2024 with the first day being spent as general orientation and observation at Freedom Ecopark in Bunganay, Boac, Marinduque. On the 2nd day, the shallow water/pool session at Sweet Lips Resort at Lipata, Buenavista was conducted. The remaining three (3) days of the training involved actual dives at Lipata, then around the Bellaroca Island Resort in Buenavista with depths from 25ft to 60ft.
The said training was conducted to equip MSC’s CFAS Faculty with professional diving certification that will capacitate them to provide Basic Scuba Diving classes for their students in the new CFAS revised curriculum under CMO #33, s. 2021.
With MSC President Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta’s approval and a grant of Php.65,000, the CFAS, through MSC’s HRMDO, was able to successfully conduct the said training and is now poised to begin the next phase of further enriching the CFAS curriculum with the addition of Scuba Diving classes for the benefit of its students.
