Boac, Marinduque, Philippines — Marinduque State College (MSC), along with the Southern Tagalog Agriculture, Aquatic, and Resources Research Development and Extension Consortium (STAARRDEC), hosted the Pre-terminal Review of the Regional Agri-Aqua Innovation System Enhancement (RAISE) Program and Proposal Packaging Writeshop for Phase 2. This program, funded by the Department of Science and Technology – Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD), took place on April 11-12, 2024, in a hybrid format, via Zoom and onsite at the MSC Audio Visual Room.

This 2-day event, hosted by MSC’s Engr. Jepthe Laderas and Ms. Nikka Mae Adling, commenced with a warm welcome to attendees and guests, accompanied by Marinduque’s traditional “Putong” ceremony, led by Ms. Ruby Ann T. Lantita, Head of the Culture and Arts Unit. Inspirational messages were delivered by Dr. Ma. Edelwina M. Blasé-VP for Research and Extension, Prof. Dr. Diosdado P. Zulueta-College President, as well as messages from DOST-PCAARRD’s Technology Transfer and Promotion Division (TTPD) Director, Nel A. Catibog, and RAISE Agri-aqua Technology Business Incubation (ATBI) Project Leader, Dr. Almira G. Magcawas.

The event transitioned to the unveiling of the Intellectual Property – Technology Business (IP-TBM) Marker at MSC Canopy, symbolizing the collaborative efforts of DOST, DOST-PCAARRD, and MSC in effectively managing intellectual property and commercializing technologies and knowledge derived from government-funded R&D activities. Mr. Edgardo R. Laririt, Director for the Knowledge and Technology Transfer Office (KTTO), formally concluded the marker inauguration.
Subsequently, the program proceeded to the Pre-Terminal Review of the RAISE Program in Southern Tagalog, where accomplishments, learnings, and challenges encountered in Projects 1-4 were presented by each STAARRDEC Consortium Member Institution (CMI). This was followed by a Proposal Packaging Writeshop for RAISE Program Phase 2, aimed at aiding proponents in producing more competitive proposals for the upcoming phase. The occasion was concluded with remarks from Dr. Teddy F. Tepora, RAISE Program Leader for Southern Tagalog.

This hybrid event was attended by the Project Leaders and Staff from STAARRDEC CMIs, namely Batangas State University (BatStateU), Cavite State University (CVSU), Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU), Marinduque State College (MSC), Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), Rizal Technological University (RTU), Romblon State University (RSU), University of Rizal System (URS), Western Philippines University (WPU), and DOST-Forest Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI).
